PROJECT 77
This Classic Boston Whaler 17’ Super Sport model was a limited production run, and this particular boat is from the last year of the model’s 1989 production. This is indeed a rare find!
BOAT HISTORY: We located this clean, freshwater, low hour, all-original Classic Boston Whaler 17’ Super Sport in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Originally purchased at Shep Brown’s Boat Basin in Meredith, New Hampshire, she was used exclusively on Central NH lakes. She wasn’t kept in the water and always trailered when not in use.
BOAT CONDITION: This 17’ Super Sport is in excellent original condition. The interior mahogany has been refinished with classic gloss marine varnish. All chrome and stainless-steel fittings and hardware are in excellent condition with no rust, corrosion, or pitting. She has never been kept in the water and never had any bottom paint.
MODEL HISTORY: The Classic Boston Whaler 17’ Super Sport model was introduced in 1984 and remained in production until 1989. Among the 17’ Classic Boston Whaler hulls, the Super Sport was the most expensive and highly optioned 17’ model available with a mahogany interior.
STANDARD EQUIPMENT: Super Sports feature a full wraparound stainless railing, upgraded mahogany interior including extended steering console with storage, forward thwart seat backrest, full width aft thwart seat backrest and molded storage compartment.
EXTRA OPTIONS: This Super Sport also has the factory optioned tan Boston Whaler battery box with Kevlok strap, Ritchie Explorer flush mount compass, Perko bow light/chock assembly with stainless pole stern light package, and new Wm J Mills Sunbrella full mooring cover (Jockey Red).
PROPULSION: She is equipped with a 1994 Johnson 3-cylinder 70hp outboard with variable rate oil injection, hydraulic power trim/tilt and electric start/choke. A full OMC gauge package is also installed to include tachometer, speedometer, trim gauge and ignition key switch/safety lanyard. She is equipped with the classic Morse MT-3 single lever engine control with red knob. The Johnson was only used for a few seasons before being winterized and placed into storage in the late 1990s. The motor is equipped with an hour meter clearly displaying only 55.9 hours of use since new! The motor has 120 psi compression across all 3 cylinders and operates/looks in new condition. The inline 3-cylinders have a reputation as one of OMC’s best outboards ever produced with excellent power/weight ratio. The Johnson has been fully serviced (water pump, spark plugs, fuel filter, fuel/water separator, carb clean/sync and gear oil) and is excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition with zero rust/corrosion and retains glossy original paint.
TRAILER: She is fitted to her original Shore Land’r galvanized trailer with the Whaler prescribed keel rollers accompanied by carpeted side bunks.
TDC COMMENTS: The Classic Boston Whaler 17’ Super Sport was manufactured in much lower production numbers than the more common Montauk 17 and Newport 17 models. All Classic Boston Whaler 17 models in 1989 shared the same hull, but had various interior configurations. Locating an original, unmodified Super Sport 17 without bottom paint in excellent condition is quite difficult. The Super Sport 17 boasts a significant amount of mahogany wood that looks spectacular on the lake, bay, river, or ocean. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to own the last production year Super Sport 17 in excellent condition with an extremely low hour motor.

BOAT HISTORY: We located this clean, all-original, Classic Boston Whaler 13’ Super Sport in northern New Jersey from her second owner. She was used sparingly on Greenwood Lake by the original owner until 2019. The second owner used her only a handful of times and has been stored inside since 2019. She has not been modified in any way, retains all her original components, has never spent a night in the water, and is in excellent original condition.
MODEL HISTORY: The Classic Boston Whaler 13’ Super Sport was introduced in 1984 and remained in production until 1994. Among the 13’ Classic Boston Whaler hulls, the Super Sport was the most highly optioned model available from Boston Whaler with a mahogany interior.
STANDARD OPTIONS: Super Sports feature a full wraparound stainless railing, upgraded mahogany interior including extended side steering console with forward thwart seat backrest, full width aft thwart seat backrest and molded storage compartment as standard equipment.
EXTRA OPTIONS: This Classic Boston Whaler Super Sport is also optioned with a black, custom Sunbrella canvas boat cover, Perko bow light assembly with SS pole stern light package, custom thwart seat and backrest cushion package, tan Boston Whaler battery box and Kevlok battery strap.

PROJECT 71
Behold a quite rare, first year Montauk!
BOAT HISTORY: We located this all-original 1973 Classic Boston Whaler 16’ Montauk just north of Detroit in Washington, Michigan from the second owner. The original owner occasionally used her on Lake St. Clair and always kept her in a barn west of Detroit. The second owner acquired her out of that barn in 1990. The boat moved to Tennessee in 1992 and back to Michigan in 2007, where she was used on freshwater reservoirs in Tennessee and then on Lakes Huron/St. Clair. This rare, first-year Classic Boston Whaler Montauk checks so many of our “boxes;” she has never seen saltwater, has always been stored inside, has not been modified in any way, and retains all of her original components.
MODEL HISTORY: The Classic Boston Whaler Eastport and the Classic Boston Whaler Nauset wooden center consoles transitioned from standard production to custom order only in 1973. Boston Whaler simultaneously launched the Montauk-I model, boasting a molded fiberglass center console and trademark Boston Whaler Reversible Pilot Seat, adapted to the 16-foot hull. This same year (1973 ) was the first year of the desert tan hull color and the second year of the change from a white glue-on rub rail to a 3-piece rub rail system with black insert.
Other original standard features for the Montauk include stainless steel side railings, Perko bow light, Kainer stainless steel pole stern light, and Schmitt stainless-steel steering wheel.
BOAT OPTIONS: This particular Classic Boston Whaler Montauk is factory-optioned with the forward stainless steel bow railing, fiberglass forward casting deck with three storage compartments and teak covers, Wm J Mills forward shelter, flytop (bimini) and zip in windshield. Additional options include a custom heavy duty canvas boat cover, and Igloo 94 qt marine cooler.
PROPULSION: She is equipped with a highly desirable, very low hour 1992 Yamaha 90hp inline 3-cylinder two-stroke, Precision-Blend, electric start/choke outboard with power tilt/trim and factory Yamaha multi-function tachometer. The 3-cylinder Yamaha 90s are known as reliable motors and highly desirable for the Classic Boston Whaler 16’ hull due to their high power/weight ratio. The two-stroke 90s have a reputation as one of Yamaha’s best outboards ever produced. This Yamaha has been fully serviced and is excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition with zero rust/corrosion and retains glossy original paint.
TRAILER: Rounding out the package is the original Little Dude trailer in excellent condition with new tires, wheels, bearings, and bearing buddies.
TDC MARINE COMMENTS: All-original, strictly freshwater Classic Boston Whaler Montauk models retaining all of their original features, that have not been modified or abused, are extremely difficult to come by. This rare, first-year Montauk will turn heads wherever she goes and, more importantly, will bring endless enjoyment to her next family.

PROJECT 51
This is incredible, well-preserved, all-original 13’ Classic Boston Whaler Sport came from the Finger Lakes region of Central New York State and is one of the best original 13’ Sports that we have located. Locating Whalers of this caliber is difficult and often requires traveling to preserve a piece of history. This Sport was purchased from the widow of the original owner. The boat was purchased from Johnson Boat Yard and Marina in Ithaca, NY on August 17, 1970. The boat was used approximately two weeks every summer until the late 1990s. She was never kept in the water and always stored in a barn on the owner’s property. From the late 1990s through 2022 she was kept in the barn, commissioned every spring and winterized every fall. A hull stencil of 2A3624 clearly denotes her as a 1970.
Originally outfitted in 1970 with a Mercury 35hp outboard, the owner traded the 35hp Mercury in 1973 for a new 1973 Mercury 50hp outboard. The trailer is the original 1970 Sears, Roebuck and Company trailer. Everything on the boat is as originally delivered and not refinished. Original varnish, bow & stern lights, steering wheel, Mills canvas cover, battery box, gas tank, gas tank mat etc.
TDC Marine will be refinishing the mahogany interior. The outboard has been fully serviced (gearcase seals rebuilt, gearcase oil, thermostats, spark plugs, fuel filter, carbs cleaned/tuned) retains the original paint, has not been touched up and showcases the limited use. There are zero added screw holes in the interior mahogany or fiberglass from non-standard equipment.
This boat was optioned with bow and stern navigation lights, Mercury tachometer, Airguide speedometer, gas tank mats and stainless steel side railings. This boat comes complete with all of the original, 1970 purchase and 1973 re-power paperwork.
This all-original, 13’ Classic Boston Whaler Sport truly belongs in a museum and is nearly impossible to find in such impeccable, original condition.
PROJECT 54
(progress photos shown)
This incredibly well-preserved 1966 13’ Sport originates from Dayton, Ohio, but was exclusively used on Douglas Lake in Pellston, Michigan during summers. Finding Whalers of this caliber can be difficult and often requires travelling to preserve a piece of history. Purchased from the son of the original owner, she was used exclusively by one family at their summer cottage in northern Michigan for a few weeks every summer until the late 1990s. This boat was never kept in the water and always stored in a garage.
From the late 1990s through 2023, this 1966 13’ Sport was kept in a barn unused, except during the summer of 2011. Her hull stencil clearly denotes her as a 1966. Originally outfitted in 1966 with a Johnson 33hp outboard, the family re-powered her in 2011 with a new Honda 30hp (BF30DKSRT) 4-stroke, short shaft outboard with power trim/tilt. The BF30D outboard is still produced today and is known for its lightweight, power, and reliability. It is quite rare to locate a remote, short shaft outboard (required for a pre-1973 classic 13 notched transom) with hydraulic power trim/tilt. The boat was used for a few weeks in the summer of 2011 after re-powering for engine break-in for a total of less than 30 hours (2.5 tanks of non-ethanol fuel). It has remained in storage unused since 2011.
The motor was winterized and commissioned each spring and has just been fully serviced to include water pump, thermostat, gear oil, engine oil, and carburetor clean/adjustment. The trailer is the original 1966 Tee-Nee with new wiring harness and lights, coupler, winch, hubs, wheels, and tires. The boat retains the original gelcoat (inside and out), mahogany interior, bow and stern lights, side rails, and Nautalloy steering wheel. There are no added screw holes in the interior or exterior fiberglass from non-standard equipment and the transom has never been drilled for a transducer. The family had a brand new, custom Sunbrella mooring cover and bimini top with boot made in 2017, which are in new condition, having never been used. This Sport 13 is highly attractive due to its originality and benefit of a low hour, newer outboard with power trim/tilt.

(check back for photos as this project is completed)
The Classic Boston Whaler Outrage 22 (1979 to 1993) is an icon among the many models of Boston Whalers. When introduced in 1979, this boat was the largest Boston Whaler hull to date. The catalogue described it as "the most brutally powerful machine ever to bear the Boston Whaler name."
The 22-foot classic hull maintains the general style of previous Boston Whaler hulls of this period in having a runner or vestigial sponson on each side of the keel. These runners help deflect spray downward and outboard, and they contribute lift to the hull to help the hull reach hydroplane mode as speed increases. The line of the runners is carried forward, and then turns upward and inward at the bow stem, where the two lines meet and form the "Whaler smirk," as the resulting shape resembles a smile with down-turned corners when viewed from head-on.
The standard Classic Boston Whaler Outrage 22’ factory equipment includes a 77-gallon fuel tank, 18” SS destroyer steering wheel, four, forward lockers with fiberglass covers, teak gunwale boards, under gunwale rod racks, bow eyes, bow bitt, recessed aft cleats with hawsepipe, pair of flush rod holders, fiberglass console with teak access doors, dash panel, door locks, Plexiglas windscreen, stainless steel rail, mechanical steering with stainless steel wheel, wiring panel with two pre-wired accessory switches, fuses and buss bar, fire extinguisher, navigation lights, and stainless steel bow rail.
This Outrage 22’ is factory optioned with the Super Deluxe Center Console (1’ longer and 10” wider than standard console; includes lockable teak side doors, 2-teak storage bins, lower storage drawer, sliding Lexan access doors to radio compartment, dash panel, wiring panel w/2-switches and fuses, aluminum-framed safety glass windshield, deluxe SS console rail, recessed fire extinguisher pocket, international navigations lights and fire extinguisher). Additional factory options include console rod holders, 94qt Igloo cooler, fold down stern seat, outriggers, spring line cleats, stainless steel side grab rails, console cover, Ritchie flush mount Helmsman compass, dual battery switches, Wm J Mills Suntop (bimini), hydraulic steering, Garmin GPS/sounder combo and full boat cover.
The original owner purchased her new in Central Pennsylvania, where she was sparingly used on the Susquehanna River and trailered while not in use. The second owner purchased her in 1995 and used her in the summers with his grandchildren on the Upper Chesapeake Bay where she was dry rack stored. Off season, she was always stored inside.
She was repowered in 2016 with twin Evinrude E-TEC 115hp high pressure direct fuel injection motors. She has the BRP E-TEC smart gauge option, twin 4-blade Michigan wheel stainless props and spare set of 3-blade OMC Renegade stainless props. The Evinrude E-TECs have an excellent power/weight ratio, are very simple to maintain and are as quiet or quieter than 4-stroke outboards with less emissions than a 4-stroke. At the time of repowering, the internal fuel tank was removed and replaced with a brand-new OEM spec 80-gallon stainless steel center tank. All fuel and vent lines were replaced and upgraded to new ethanol resistance hoses and both soft patch fiberglass deck sections were re-cored.
Both motors have just received their first 300-hour service and are in excellent condition. The motors look and run like new. When properly maintained, these motors will provide many years of reliable operation and enjoyment.
Also included is a 2004 Load-Rite galvanized dual axle trailer with keel rollers, side bunks, and hydraulic disc brakes on both axles. This Classic Boston Whaler Outrage 22 rides extremely well offshore and offers much security for children with her stainless side rails and flip down full width stern seat.
This boat serves as a fine demonstration of an all-original, highly optioned 22' Outrage with the desired Super Deluxe console, new power and new fuel tank. She will be ready to splash just in time for the upcoming 2024 boating season - be prepared to be envy of the harbor for years to come!
