PROJECT 53
This 1983 Classic Boston Whaler 13’ Sport is in wonderful original condition and was acquired from its original owner in South Hill, VA, where it had been stored in an airplane hangar since 1998, unused. The boat was exclusively used on Lake Gaston in North Carolina and has never been in saltwater. It was never kept in the water overnight and was always trailered and stored inside. The mahogany has never been refinished, and the hull is in excellent condition. This boat has nearly every factory option available in 1983, including the rare wraparound stainless side railing with mahogany aft thwart seat backrest, custom full cushion set for both thwart seats, aft seat backrest and bow area, Boston Whaler battery box, and bow and stern navigation lights. A custom canvas mooring cover is also included.
The original 1983 35hp 2-cylinder Johnson outboard was replaced in 1995 with a 1989 Yamaha 40hp 3-cylinder electric start/choke, which provides more power. The motor has been fully serviced and is in excellent running and cosmetic condition. The Yamaha triple cylinder 40s are known for their reliability and high power-to-weight ratio, making them highly desirable for the classic 13’ hull. The original Cox trailer is also in excellent condition.
This is a rare example of a low-hour, highly optioned, original freshwater Sport, ready to be enjoyed by the next owner.

BOAT HISTORY: This clean, freshwater, low hour, all-original, 1968 Classic Boston Whaler Nauset was acquired in NW Washington State from the second owner. She was purchased new in Central Michigan in 1968 where the original owner used her for an annual 2-week fishing trip to Canada until 1981. The original owner brought her to Idaho in 1981 where she was sparingly used on small Idaho lakes until she was sold to the second owner in 2019. The second owner brought her to NW Washington, where she was just used a handful of times. This Nauset was never kept in the water overnight and always stored in a heated garage for her entire life. She has not been modified in any way and retains all her original components.
BOAT CONDITION: This Classic Boston Whaler Nauset 16 is in excellent original condition. The interior mahogany is in fantastic condition with a nice gloss to the marine varnish. All chrome, stainless-steel fittings and hardware are in excellent condition with no rust, corrosion, or pitting. The original interior/exterior gelcoat is in remarkable condition with no crazing that many older Classic Boston Whalers develop. She has never seen bottom paint.
MODEL HISTORY: The Classic Boston Whaler Nauset model was introduced in 1960 and there began the center console revolution in the boating industry. Prior to the Classic Boston Whaler 16’ center consoles (Nauset, Sakonnet, Eastport), the center console design did not exist in the boating industry.
STANDARD EQUIPMENT: Classic Boston Whaler Nauset interiors came standard with a mahogany fixed pilot seat, mahogany center console with windshield and mahogany bow locker cover. Nausets also came standard with a set of stainless-steel side railings, chrome over brass bow light, stern light brackets, and stainless-steel pole stern light.
EXTRA OPTIONS: This Classic Boston Whaler Nauset also has the factory optioned bow light/chock rope guard assembly, Wm J Mills canvas mooring cover, Wm J Mills forward canvas shelter (dodger), and Wm J Mills suntop (bimini). She is further optioned with a 24-gallon fuel tank under the pilot seat.
PROPULSION: She is equipped with a 1995 Mercury ELPTO 3-cylinder 75hp outboard with automatic oil injection, hydraulic power trim/tilt, and electric start/choke. A full Mercury Quicksilver gauge package is also installed to include tachometer, voltmeter, hour meter, and ignition key switch/safety lanyard. She is equipped with the classic Morse MT-3 single lever engine control with red control knob. The Mercury was only used for a few seasons before being winterized and placed into storage. The motor is equipped with an hour meter clearly displaying only 140.3 hours of use since new! The motor has 120 psi compression across all 3 cylinders and operates/looks in new condition. The Mercury inline 3-cylinders have a reputation as one of Mercury’s best outboards ever produced with excellent power/weight ratio. The Mercury has been fully serviced (water pump, spark plugs, fuel filter, fuel/water separator, carb clean/sync, and gear oil) and is excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition with zero rust/corrosion and retains glossy original paint.
TRAILER: She is fitted to a 2001 EZ Loader galvanized trailer in excellent condition.
TDC MARINE COMMENTS: This is one nice Nauset! The gelcoat still retains her original high gloss finish and the mahogany shines. It is easy to tell that this Classic Boston Whaler Nauset has seen limited use and stored inside. All original, Nauset models which retain all their original features, have not been modified or abused, are quite difficult to come by. This Nauset is very striking and will surely be the center of attention wherever she goes. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to own this truly wonderful Nauset 16 in excellent condition with an extremely low hour motor.
As always, these boats go fast; contact TDC Marine for inquiries about this project, or another Classic Boston Whaler model.

BOAT HISTORY: The original owners purchased this 1987 Classic Boston Whaler 18’ Outrage new at Great Lakes Marine in Littleton, Colorado in 1987. She was rarely used and stored on her trailer, always covered, and in a barn. She was never kept in the water overnight or stored outside. The second owner purchased the boat in 2021 and moved her to central Wisconsin where she was stored in a heated garage and, again, rarely used. To date, this 1987 Classic Boston Whaler 18’ Outrage has never seen saltwater, has never spent a night in the water or outside.
BOAT CONDITION: This 1987 Classic Boston Whaler 18’ Outrage is in incredible, original condition as evidenced by the rich, glossy gelcoat, well-preserved teak trim and soft/supple original upholstery. All chrome, stainless-steel fittings and hardware are in excellent condition with no rust, corrosion or pitting. The original interior/exterior gelcoat is in remarkable condition with none of the crazing that many older Classic Boston Whalers develop. She has never had any bottom paint.
**This entire package is a “10” and the absolute best that a Classic Boston Whaler 18’ Outrage has to offer.
MODEL HISTORY: The Classic Boston Whaler Outrage 18 (1981-1990) is a true gem among the many Classic Boston Whaler models. The Classic Boston Whaler Outrage 18 was designed for operating in big waves and big water and for finishing offshore. The hull shape retained the refined bow lines with the classic "smirk" (formed by carrying the line of the runners up and across the bow). The resulting Classic Boston Whaler Outrage 18 hull was able to provide excellent lateral stability, while also providing a much-improved ride in waves and chop when compared to the Classic Boston Whaler 17-foot hull. The Classic Boston Whaler Outrage 18 freeboard is slightly higher than the smaller Classic Boston Whalers, which yields a deeper cockpit.
STANDARD EQUIPMENT: Standard Classic Boston Whaler Outrage 18 features include Standard Console with teak access doors, dash panel, locks, Plexiglas windscreen, stainless steering wheel, switch panel with 2 pre-wired accessory switches, fuses and buss bar and stainless console rail; 63-gallon fuel tank; stainless bow rail; two swivel seats; recessed aft cleats with hawsepipe; rod racks; pair of flush mounted rod holders; bow locker with fiberglass cover; teak gunwale boards; international navigation lights; fire extinguisher; bow bitt; lifting eyes; battery box with hold-down strap; heavy-duty rub rail. The cockpit features the standard Whaler center console and offered a choice of seating arrangements, principally either the standard twin swivel seats, optional teak Reversible Pilot Seat, or optional leaning post. A full-width upholstered bench seat could be ordered to provide more seating in the stern. A cooler seat and bow cushions could augment seating forward of the console. The Classic Boston Whaler Outrage 18 was one of the smallest boats to offer an integral fuel system. This large fuel capacity (63-gallons) gave this boat the ability to make long trips without refueling.
FACTORY OPTIONS: Factory options on this Classic Boston Whaler 1987 Outrage 18 include a reversible pilot seat with cushioned base, Ritchie Navigator flush mount lighted compass, recessed teak fire extinguisher pocket, Igloo 86qt cooler with cushion and mahogany deck mounted cooler chocks, console rod holders with backrest cushions, stainless side railings, large Whaler hull decals, Wm J Mills console cover, Wm J Mills suntop (bimini), and Boston Whaler tan battery box w/Kevlok strap.
PROPULSION: Originally rigged with a 1987 Johnson 150hp outboard, she was repowered in 2013 with a highly desirable, Evinrude E-TEC 150hp high pressure direct fuel injected, electric start outboard with power trim/tilt, BRP system check gauge, and a full set of OMC/BRP gauges (tachometer, speedometer, trim position, and battery ammeter). The Evinrude E-TECs have an excellent power/weight ratio, are very simple to maintain and are quiet or quieter than 4-stroke outboards with less emissions than a 4-stroke. The motor has extremely low hours and in excellent condition. The motor looks and runs like new. When properly maintained, the motors will provide many years of reliable operation and enjoyment. The 150hp E-TEC offers the best power/weight ratio and technology of all available outboards for the 18’ hull.
TRAILER: This Classic Boston Whaler Outrage 18 is fit to a custom painted bunk OKT Oklahoma Trailer with hydraulic surge brakes in excellent condition.
TDC COMMENTS: If you are looking for a Classic Boston Whaler 18’ Outrage in impeccable condition and ready to go, look no further as this rare find is absolutely perfect.
